Discussion Group sections will begin meeting 12 February.
There will be a Special Session on Saturday 2 April 2022 at 6pm UTC (2pm Eastern) - attendance is encouraged but not required. Students are also welcome to attend a similar workshop with Syracuse students on Thursday 7 April at 2:30pm UTC (10:30am Eastern).
Note that no group meetings will take place from 16-22 April in recognition of Easter and Passover.
The final group meeting will take place 12 May.
To wrap up the course, participants are invited to attend (and, optionally, present at) a special Community Showcase on Saturday 14 May 2022 at 8pm UTC (4pm Eastern).
Week 1
to value each other’s perspectives and agree upon shared principles for engagement with these issues
Week 2
to acknowledge how political, social, economic, linguistic & environmental structures marginalise communities
Week 3
to determine how environmental harms are unequally experienced by groups, often with systemic intent
Week 4
to identify realities in the (mis)use and provision of food, water, energy, and other environmental resources
Week 5
to understand spatial politics and how geographical histories of power have shaped access to land
Week 6
to break down socially constructed binaries reproducing unequal power dynamics in human-nature relations

to challenge traditional conceptions of power that undermine the voices of underrepresented stakeholders

to co-create a musical production reducing anthropocentrism and showcasing marginalised actors

to recognise the interconnectedness and interdependence of justice for all while questioning the role of allyship
