Session Objective: to discover uncomfortable truths behind stories that have been whitewashed in popular retellings
During class time this week, we will travel as a group to Gravesend, a river village where Pocahontas is said to be buried. While there, we will critique the way she is memorialised and how her story is told.
Your Learning Log is very light this week, to (1) allow us to learn on the road in Gravesend, and (2) give you plenty of time to work on your Agency Artwork assignment.
Remember: the 1995 Disney film Pocahontas. (If you haven’t seen it, you don’t need to watch the full movie...but it’s worth at least watching a few clips on YouTube so you get a sense of how the story is portrayed.)
